The Silestone Bathroom

Hello my lovely followers,

Gosh, it’s already end of November and days are flying by at the moment. What are you being up to? I thought it is time for the next Before/After reveal . In this post I will show you the complete transformation of the teenage bathroom in my latest project. This is how it looked before.

I mean, for Art Deco fans who love colour, this would be the perfect place to relax - maybe. The bath tub actually was an unique piece and I managed to get it to a local reclamation centre. But I was really glad to get rid of the checkerboard PVC, the yellow tiles… and everything.

Because this bathroom is very small and facing the east ,the natural light flow wasn’t that great and I decided to do a complete white bathroom with black highlights. But I didn’t want to create a tile layout with the usual white metro tiles ( what you actually can see everywhere at the moment) or big white porcelain standard tiles. In this small space you really would have issues with the grouting lines and I was aiming for a real simplistic but at the same time luxurious feeling. And I wanted to try something new.

I always was interested in the sophisticated panels from Cosentino, a global family-owned company that produces and distributes high value innovative surfaces for architecture and design. They offer different possibilities material wise, but for the bathroom I went with Silestone . Silestone is a compound made up of 90% natural quartz, which makes it extraordinarily hard and resilient. It is an excellent surface for bathrooms, floors and wall cladding using the minimum number of joints. I chose “ Iconic White” in a “ Suede “ finish as my favourite colour to work with. And here you can see the result.

You can get the Silestone in different sizes. For this bathroom we used the Jumbo format ( 3060x1400mm) to minimise joins. To install those panels you really need experienced staff and I needed to do a lot of research who could help us in this area. I found a brilliant company who did an amazing job, but it was a challenge- especially in this old house and in this tight bathroom. You actually have only one chance to bring the panels against the wall and therefore every detail, every mm need to be planned precisely .

The result ist truly stunning and I am very pleased with the wall joints lining up with the floor joints. The black sanitary hardware accessories are creating a modern yet calm contrast. The light definitely is back in this space, being softened by the matt “ Suede” finish. For me it is the perfect modern bathroom composition for teenager.
